After his faked death in Missouri, in 1882, he lived in South America and then in Oklahoma where he kept in contact with his brother, Frank. Jesse James died in 1951 in Granbury, Texas, at the age of 104.

Kontum Diary
Based on the Emmy Award Winning  true story by Paul Reed. 

During the 1968 battle at Kontum, Vietnam, Paul Reed captured a small diary which belongs to a North Vietnamese soldier. He sends the diary home where it sits in a box for 20 years.  Suffering from PTSD, Paul has the diary translated, discovering that it is a book of poems.  In an effort to bring closure to the war, he decides to return the diary to the soldier’s family, only to discover that his former enemy, Nghia, is still alive.  The entire journey of reconciliation and forgiveness is documented by freelance director Steve Smith for later broadcast on PBS.
